Workshop: 12pm – 2pm
On Saturday 18 February, Campbelltown Arts Centre in association with Sydney WorldPride presents an artist talk and exhibition-inspired workshop to coincide with Karla Dickens’ monumental survey exhibition ‘Embracing Shadows’.
From 10.30am join Karla Dickens and ABC RN’s ‘The Art Show’ Daniel Browning in conversation as they discuss 30 years of Karla’s iconic practice and the enduring themes of race, gender and resilience explored across her work. Karla will also offer insight into the creative process behind her new body of work ‘Disastrous’, made in response to the devastating Northern Rivers floods of early 2022.
Visitors can also engage in a drop-in workshop inspired by Karla’s work and led by a C-A-C educator, using collage and mixed media to create a take-home piece that draws on themes of community, identity and celebrating diversity. This workshop runs from 12pm – 2pm and is suitable for all ages.
The artist talk will be Auslan interpreted.
Attendance is free. Book your tickets below.
