Interviews with Members of eleven

Khaled Sabsabi: A Hope
Interviews with members of eleven
18 February – 27 March 2022

This series of video interviews documents five artists’ and practitioners’ personal responses and nuanced interpretations of artworks currently included in Khaled Sabsabi: A Hope at Campbelltown Arts Centre – the second chapter of a large-scale survey exhibition, developed in partnership with the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The archival resource was created by artist and videographer Ludwig El Haddad speaking with artists and creative practitioners working across Australia; Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Idil Abdullahi, Safdar Ahmed, Nur Shkembi and Abdullah MI Syed are current members of eleven, a collective of contemporary Muslim Australian artists, curators and writers.

eleven was initiated by the internationally acclaimed Sydney based artist Khaled Sabsabi in July 2016 and was inspired by the dynamic and highly successful Indigenous artistic collective proppaNOW.

Visitors are invited to view the full videos below, or in-person at the archive table in our gallery foyer space, available until 27 March 2022.
