Conscious: Hyperlocal Hip-Hop

An artist development program for conscious minded artists from Western Sydney to self-determine their own careers. Throughout 2019, five hip-hop artists from Western Sydney will take part in Conscious, a new music development program by Campbelltown Arts Centre (C-A-C).

The Conscious 1 cohort of artists are: Jess Jade, Mirrah, Nardean, Becca Hatch and Zeadala

Renowned artist and Conscious Artistic Director, L-FRESH The LION will facilitate the program that mentors and supports local, socially minded artists to further develop their artistic voice, their music and to become active leaders in their communities.

Each artist will embark on a residency to guide them on their individual artistic needs. The residency will be structured to meet the individual artist’s career goals at this present time which include industry mentoring, publicity support for release, recording and studio time, filming a music video, writing and vocal development.

The Conscious program supports each artist with the opportunities to connect and build relationships to assist the next steps of their artistic journey. In addition, all artists will engage with the South-West Sydney community through workshops, events and advocacy.

To celebrate the artists’ achievements through the Conscious program, C-A-C, supported by funding from Create NSW  presented a concert featuring all the artists on the 24th of November 2019.
