In term 4 2020, Campbelltown Arts Centre is launching two specially developed packs for partnering local primary schools, for full year groups to learn from contemporary artists.
We are excited and grateful to work with artists Merindah Funnell (Wiradjuri) and Ethan Bell (Ngunnawal) with support from Elders Aunty Susan Murphy and Aunty Christine Carriage.
The program uses Project Based Learning to integrate creative arts and other key learning areas, as well as cross-curriculum priority Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.
Merindah and Ethan have developed workshops informed by their professional practices in illustration or poetry, while drawing inspiration from conversations with local Elders. Packs include art materials for individual students, reference books for teachers and printed booklets with creative workshops to be undertaken as part of regular studies at school or home, facilitated by classroom teachers.
This resource is available to a limited number of students from partnering primary schools; please get in touch if your school is interested in getting involved.
