Students: Stage 6 Visual Arts (for new year 12 students in Term 4 completing 2022 HSC)*

Our inspirational Stage 6 Visual Arts event, Artists & Practice returns as a live video series in 2021.

Artists & Practice provides artist case studies, workshops and technical expertise, motivational talks and recent graduate advice to galvanize students as they commence their Body of Work and launch into their final year of Visual Arts, for 2022 HSC.

Our opening video is presented during school hours, for students to meet the artists and recent graduates, before a series of elective after-hours video talks and artist-led workshops introducing a wide cross-section practices and accessible art-forms.

The following program will be presented online via Zoom. Registrations essential.

Schools Launch: Tuesday 12 October, 1pm – 2pm
Meet the artists: A speed introduction to recent Visual Arts graduates as well as artists Safdar Ahmed, Natalie Valiente, Merindah Funnell and Audrey Newton.

We’ll answer students’ questions, share a little about who we are – and why you should join each after hours program in the series!

Elective 1: 6pm – 7pm, Thursday 21 October
Graduates Panel: A discussion with recent Visual Arts graduates from south west Sydney, Nissa Cheong (Macquarie Fields 2019), Emmanuel Asante (Eagle Vale High School 2018) & Gabriella Grubisic (St Patrick’s College, 2020)

Elective 2: 6pm – 7pm, Thursday 28 October
Workshop with Safdar Ahmed | Monsters: Visual storytelling in comics

Elective 3: 6pm – 7pm Thursday 4 November
Workshop with Natalie Valiente | Hand-built ceramic sculpture

Elective 4: 6pm – 7pm Thursday 11 November
Workshop with Merindah Funnell | Watercolour painting & Colour Theory

Elective 5: 6pm – 7pm Thursday 18 November
Workshop with Audrey Newton | Installation art

* Open to all 2022 Stage 6 Visual Art students, including year 11 and compressed curriculum students
