Saturday 14 & Saturday 21 July | 10am – 4pm
This two-part workshop offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look into the life, inspirations and artworks of David Hawkes as seen within the Campbelltown Arts Centre’s exhibition Looking In: A Survey of David Hawkes from 1989 to Now. Hawkes’s practice is primarily concerned with paintings of abstract landscapes, but has always looked to push the boundaries of the medium. A talk will begin at the C-A-C exhibition then carry across to his Wedderburn studio where participants will be given an opportunity to produce their own creative response utilising the same materials and landscapes that directly inspire Hawkes’s own practice.
*The bus to David Hawkes’s Wedderburn studio will depart from Campbelltown Arts Centre at 10.15am sharp. Tea, coffee and art materials will be provided. Participants are to supply their own shoes, hat, water and lunch.
