This creative professional learning day will introduce teachers to diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists working in visual and performing arts. The course is underpinned by introductory cultural awareness training, for educators to better understand and engage with local history, place, culture and communities.
Presenters include AECG (Dharawal Region) with Karen Beetson facilitating cultural awareness training; keynote from Jacinta Tobin specializing in story, language and song; Yidaki (Didgeridoo) performance and (quick!) visual art workshop with artist Blak Douglas as well as an afternoon artist panel with Danie Mellor and Nicole Monks.

Completing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art for Secondary Teachers will contribute 4 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing standard descriptors 1.4.2 and 2.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
